In short
- Your cell phone number is the only thing required to create an account.
- We use your receipt number or A-Number to look up your case in the public USCIS and immigration court systems, and to remind you of your dates.
- We don't sell your data.
- ICE locator searches are not saved.
- You can download your data or delete your account anytime, from the app.
1. Who we are
Amparo is an app by Vasquez Law Firm [exact legal name], which is responsible for your data. In this policy, "we" means Vasquez Law Firm. Hodos 360, LLC builds and runs the app on the firm's behalf.
This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Amparo app and this website, what we use it for, and what you can do about it.
2. What we collect
| Data | What we use it for | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Cell phone number | To create your account, confirm it with a code and contact you about the app | Yes |
| Name, email and language | To personalize the app and communicate with you | No |
| USCIS receipt number, A-Number and country of birth | To look up your case status and hearings, and tell you about changes | Only if you add a case |
| Case details (status, dates, judge, court) | To show you your case and send you reminders | Only if you add a case |
| Family members you add to your household | To follow your family's cases in one place | No |
| Forms you send (a case evaluation request, a FOIA request, a question for the attorney) | To handle what you asked for. These forms may include your date of birth, address and A-Number | Only if you use them |
| Messages you send the firm and community posts | To reply to you and show your post. In the community, we automatically remove details like A-Numbers before posting | Only if you use them |
| Documents you upload (firm clients) | To share them with your legal team | Only if you upload them |
| App usage (screens, features, version, how you found us) | To understand what works and improve the app | Automatic |
| Notification token | To send alerts to your phone | If you allow notifications |
| Yo Peleo+ subscription | To know whether your plan is active. Apple or Google process the payment; we never see your card | Only if you subscribe |
Some data stays only on your phone and never reaches our servers: your emergency plan (contacts and childcare details) and your chat history with Amparo.
3. What we don't collect
- Your location.
- Your phone contacts.
- Your camera or microphone.
- What you search in the ICE detainee locator: the app only takes you to the official ICE page and saves nothing.
4. Who we share your data with
We don't sell or rent your data to anyone. We only share what the app needs to work:
| Who | What and why |
|---|---|
| Vasquez Law Firm, through GoHighLevel | Your number, your name and what you request in the app (for example, a case evaluation) are stored in GoHighLevel, the firm's client system, so the firm can help you. GoHighLevel also sends verification codes and text messages |
| USCIS and the immigration court (EOIR) | Your receipt number or A-Number, to look up your case in their public systems |
| AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) | Your questions to Amparo and the case details needed to answer them |
| Technology providers | Supabase (database), Amazon Web Services (servers), Resend (email), Expo (notifications) and RevenueCat (subscriptions) |
| Apple and Google | Sign-in (if you choose it) and Yo Peleo+ billing |
5. Amparo and AI
Amparo is an AI virtual assistant, not a person and not an attorney. To answer you, we send your question and your case information to our AI providers. [confirm that our contracts with these providers prohibit using the data to train their models]
Please don't type information Amparo doesn't need, such as card numbers or passwords.
6. Text messages and calls
Vasquez Law Firm sends two kinds of text messages:
- App messages: the code to confirm your phone and alerts about your case, such as your hearing reminder. Everyone who signs up gets these, because the app doesn't work without them.
- News and promotions: firm updates, new features and offers. You only get these if you check the box that allows them when you sign up. It is not required to use Amparo.
Some messages are sent using automated systems. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. [pending William's approval; the sign-up screen must say the same]
7. Requests from government authorities
[Wording to be defined by William: when information would be given to an authority, for example only with a valid court order, and whether the user would be notified when the law allows]
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your data while your account is active. [retention period for inactive accounts and submitted forms]
If you requested a case evaluation or are a Vasquez Law Firm client, the firm keeps those records as its professional obligations require, even if you delete your Amparo account.
9. Your choices
- Download your data: from the Privacy Center in the app.
- Delete your account: in Profile, "Delete account". We delete your account and its data, and backups within 30 days.
- Stop text messages: reply STOP.
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone settings.
- Ask by email: write to [privacy email] and we will respond within 30 days.
10. Security
We protect your information with per-user access controls and encrypted connections. [add "and encryption of your A-Number" once it is live] You can also lock the app with Face ID or fingerprint. No system is perfect, but we work to keep your data safe.
11. Minors
Amparo is for people 18 and older. If a minor needs help with their case, a parent or guardian can add them to their household in the app.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and let you know in the app when the change is significant.
